This unique experience at “Crete Otherwise” is named after the giant crocodile that Zeus famously transformed into stone with a bolt of lightning, a powerful symbol from myth that captivates our imagination.

The tour begins with a warm welcome, followed by a visit to the interior where a captivating collection of photographs spanning three generations tells the story of our heritage. Next, guests enjoy the terrace overlooking the vineyard, offering breathtaking views, before continuing to the fruit sorting and packaging area to observe the meticulous production process in action.

The tour continues with a visit to our vineyard, where we highlight seasonal cultivation practices unique to this region. Following this, guests explore the olive oil and raisin standardization and packaging area. The route then leads to the charming, old stone-built metochi, preserving the agricultural traditions of the past. The experience concludes in our 30-year-old olive grove, where we share insights into the cultivation and harvesting techniques that sustain this ancient land.

The experience culminates with an olive oil tasting accompanied by a wooden platter brimming with authentic Cretan flavors and aromas: apaki, gruyere, feta, our homemade dolma, tzatziki, olive paste, rusks, grated tomato, cucumber, and other traditional accompaniments. The meal is beautifully rounded off with spoon sweets lovingly prepared by our grandmothers, alongside generous servings of raki for a true taste of Cretan hospitality.
